Google hid the Distill Page option in newer versions of Chrome, so it may not appear in the menu and you have to search for it. For webpages that are built with heavy scripts or dynamic designs cannot be distilled and hence you may find distill page option not working on chrome browser. Try updating Chrome, or start using Reader Mode, or using bookmarklet shortcuts that can solve this issue.
