It's a universal law, "you have to pay the price for your mistakes" and not retaining Chris Gayle on their side was the RCB huge mistake. Chris Gayle is one of those batsmen in the format of T20 cricket who can single-handedly win the matches for his team.
The same he did for his new franchise, "King XI Punjab", in the last two matches of Kings XI Punjab, he roped in team and we all witnessed Gayle storm again. He first slammed 63 runs in just 33 balls against CSK and after then in the next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he went complete berserk and scored the first hundred of the IPL 2018 and played an unbeaten inning of 104 runs in just 63 balls.
RCB could have easily retained Gayle but after no other bidders were there even two turns of bidding, it was only Kings XI Punjab and its management who snatched up 'Da Universe Boss' for his base price Rs 2 crore. RCB is paying the price for not retaining him and hence, lost two matches back to back in IPL just because they are lacking a player who can score quick runs and at present they are only dependent on Kohli.
