BRASS is an acronym for Bronze Age Star with an astronomical symbol for the planet Venus. It was first coined by a science fiction author in 1938, who was trying to find a name for the fictional civilization introduced in his 1926 novel, The Chessmen of Mars.
Originally found on Earth, brass appears as an interesting layer of rock, ranging from yellowish-rusty to golden in color and containing noticeable amounts of copper present within it. When found along with other metals such as iron and nickel, it can lead scientists on long journeys in order to learn more about this unique metal. There are numerous things that people can learn about brass such as its uses throughout history and even its chemical characteristics and atomic structure.
