The International Finance Corporation is an international finance institution that not only offers investments, but also offers other things such as, advisory, asset-management services, and much more. This is done to try and encourage the private-sector development in the lesser developed or the developing nations. The IFC is considered to be a member of the World Bank Group and the headquarters of the same are located in Washington, D.C., in the United States of America. Currently, approximately 186 countries are part of this organization. The parent organization of the corporation is the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The IFC was founded on the 20th of July, 1956. It was founded by British political scientist, Robert L. Garner.
