With India's demographics changing, with a larger section of population entering the workforce during 2020-2050, it is imperative to have policies that provide growth opportunities for job creation. The National Youth Empowerment Scheme provides financial assistance in partnership with public sector undertakings/enterprises on a matching basis to employ more young people in their work force by creating new jobs or upgrading existing jobs.
Over a two-year period, the National Youth Empowerment Scheme (NYES) aspires to provide at least 774,000 empowerment opportunities through direct youth empowerment.

National Youth Empowerment Scheme (N-YES) is a programme proposed by Indian government. The senior officers of Ministry of Defense, Cabinet Ministers, and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment attended the meeting called by PMO last month. N-YES is a step taken in the direction of youth empowerment which will provide military training to 10, 00,000 youths every year. This is to make them eligible for the defense services and hence provide employment in that field.

1. It will provide military training to 10, 00,000 youths every year.
2. This is a 12-month training programme.
3. This programme will make the youth eligible for the jobs in Indian Militry Services.
4. The trainees will also get a monthly stipend.
5. Rural areas, especiaaly the women living there will be included in the programme.
6. One motive of this programme is to develop the feeling of nationalism, discipline, and self-respect in the youth of the country.
7. The anticipated result of the scheme is to see India as a military master on global level.
8. This will help PM Modi in his vision of “India in 2020”.
9. Along with military training, the education of business, yoga, Ayurveda, and ancient philosophy will be given under this programme.

Important facts:

1. To meet the expenses of the programme the government can use the amount given to National Cadet Corpse (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS).
2. Government can also ask for an annual allowance from MGREGA.
3. NCC certificate do not make the students eligible to apply for the military services, but N-YES ill do so.

India already has 4,207,250 people who are employed and those who are retired and get pension. Along with this, it will be interesting to see how the government will manage to provide training and ensure employment to 10, 00,000 extra people.
