The latest goal, and no less than a challenge for Indian Women’s Cricket Team is to qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2021.
The next step towards this goal has taken the team to Sri Lanka for a series scheduled from September 11th to September 16th. It’s the third round of the ICC Women’s Championship for which India is being hosted by Sri Lanka –an important series for both India and Sri Lanka.
“The bottom four sides in the points table — Sri Lanka, India, West Indies and South Africa — will look to make up ground on Australia, England, Pakistan and leaders New Zealand in the race to qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2021”, reports The Hindu.
Both India and Sri Lanka are looking up to the upcoming series for their chance. India wants to make a return in the game after being defeated by Australia previously, while Sri Lanka wants to open its account as they have the benefit of home conditions this time.
Not to forget that the last India Vs. Sri Lanka series ended with 0-3 score, in the favor of India. Captain Mithali raj seems very enthusiastic and optimistic about this series.
Apart from ICC Women’s Championship, The Indian Cricket Women’s Team will be preparing for the upcoming Women’s World T20 series, with the matches already scheduled.
